If you are a member of the military who supports the withdrawal of troops . . . An Appeal for Redress from the War in Iraq
As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq . Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home.

Why do they call it the PUBLIC SERVICE Commission when it continually services the utility companies?
American Electric Power says the $2.2 billion coal-fired plant it wants to build in Mason County represents "the cutting edge" of industry technology. However, the plant is missing a key element a growing number of experts say is needed: equipment to capture greenhouse gas emissions and pump them underground. Late last week, the state Public Service Commission approved the AEP proposal. It is the single most expensive utility project in West Virginia history. In an 85-page decision, the PSC gave the company a stream of cash - through customer rate hikes - to pay off debt incurred building the plant. Read the appalling story here.

Does a country of 303 million people really have only two families qualified to run the show?
Already, for 116 million Americans, there has never been a time when there wasn't a Bush or Clinton in the White House, either as president or vice-president. The dominance of the two families in U.S. presidential politics is unprecedented. (The closest comparisons are the father-son presidencies of John Adams and John Quincy Adams, whose single terms were separated by 24 years, and the presidencies of fifth cousins Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt, whose collective 20 years as president were separated by a quarter-century.) To understand what The Pentagon Papers were, imagine that Donald Rumsfeld had the true and secret history of the Iraq War locked in safe somewhere. HCDFA Hosts March for Peace August 31 March for Peace participants made their way across WV via US50 on the last leg of their journey from San Franciso to Washington, DC. They arrived in Clarskburg around noon where they were welcomed by HCDFA members at Democratic headquarters. After lunch and a little time to rest they were back on the road to DC where they expect to arrive September 10. HCDFA considers itself fortunate to have been able to meet and talk with these patriots who have spent their summer walking across the US to raise public awareness. We are grateful for their inspiration and sacrifice.
